You are so lucky to have seen the inside. I was there last November and it was all closed up. Has it opened again for awhile?
I have spent a great deal of time at Death Valley Junction and knew Marta Becket. I don’t know what is happening there now, especially since the rains and flooding this past summer. I plan to stop by soon. Hopefully it’s okay. The interior of the Opera House is magnificent. Marta was quite a force.
I’ve read about the interior and would love to see it. Marta Becket sounds like she was quite a wonderful woman.
I met Marta in 2009. Around 2011 I started spending a lot of time at DVJ photographing it. There was a documentary done on Marta Becket called “Amargosa”. It’s really wonderful. You can access it via Amazon Prime. I highly recommend it.
