Autumn Squash

Two from my garden and one from Trader Joe’s.  I love growing all kinds of pumpkins and squash for fall.

  1. Beautifully done. The small orange pumpkin looks so animate it could jump off the canvas. And I love the way you handled the vine and the multi-hued whites.

    • Thank you so much! I’m really into pumpkins and squash this year as I’ve spent the past couple of years growing all kinds, even up on arbors. It’s really fun to see them hanging down!

Their shapes and forms are so sculptural, that I want to paint them. When I cut them for the house, I like leaving parts of the vine. The earthiness…

Thank you so much for the compliment! It means a great deal.

  2. I’d love to see what they look like on the arbors, cool. A classic desert food, right? I’m sure your sense of the sculptural nature of pumpkins is partly what makes the shapes look so good in the painting. The palette is beautiful, too.

I’ve been unable to keep up with blogs for many months because my partner was sick. He died in July and now I’m beginning to find a little more time/space to read and comment. It was good to see this painting this morning. 🙂

    • I’m so sorry for your loss… I cannot imagine what you have been through. Blessings to you ❤️
